Number please…

Whilst my marbles do have a reputation of wandering away on their own and getting very very lost, I thought I had reigned enough in the keep me going for a while longer. It seems Mother Nature likes having her funny bone tickled and dropping surprise forgetfulness on us long suffering mortals. Yesterday I wanted to log into my bank account, as you do around pay day. Part of my bank’s security process is a little handheld device you stick your card into, punch in your pin and enter a randomly generated code the device gives you into the bank’s log in page and ta daaa. Simples. Right? Wrong. I had a sudden case of ‘user error’ in that I completely forgot my pin number. I entered four digits in what I thought was the correct sequence once, twice and then blindly a third time all the while repeating to myself ‘this must be right’. After the third failed attempt the device displayed a message to contact the bank. Great. I then had to phone a switchboard, admit to being a doofus and please send help. Luckily there was an easy solution and I can keep my old pin – which I now remember. This has happened to me once before, very recently. I remember leaving a message for someone to call me back, and whilst attempting to leave my mobile number drew an absolute blank again. The message wasn’t to a friend it was chasing up an order or something ‘unfamiliar’ so whilst I was probably doing my best work voice trying to sound all professional, there is about three seconds of dead air and me stuttering worse than Zummy Gummy. No real way to claw back one’s dignity after that. I know I’m not as spritely as I used to be, but surely it’s too early to break out the ginkgo biloba? Anyone else have temporary memory loss?
