It’s been a little while since I’ve written since life has been happening ‘to me’ more than with or around me, but anyone who follows me on Facebook or Instagram will have seen I have been somewhat prolific with posting haikus lately.
A haiku, for anyone who doesn’t know, is a concise three line poem where the first and third lines contain precisely five syllables and the second line, seven. No more, no less.
After having received a copy of Itch’s fabulous collection in 101 Haikus, I grew to love the form much more than before but struggled to squeeze my own thoughts, message or intentions clearly in such a controlled format.
A week ago I managed to boil some thoughts down into one I liked, and it seems I’ve opened Pandora’s box.
In a little breather from all the reviews I have posted recently, I thought I would share what I’ve composed so far as a little collection. Maybe I will perform them sometime in the future. What do you think? Any verses of your own you’d like to share? I’d recommend everyone give them a try, they’re really quite fun.
